The Ministry of Health and the City of Vera today signed an agreement for the implementation in the municipality of RELAS Project (Local Action Network Health). Through this program seeks to strengthen intersectorality and give more prominence to the consistory in promoting, protection and health prevention, given its proximity to citizens.
The signing of the agreement have taken place in the city of Vera, territorial delegate Equality, Health and Social Policy Almería, Jose Maria Martin, and the mayor of the municipality, Felix Lopez. Jose Maria Martin explained that "with this signature Vera becomes the twelfth almeriense municipality that joins this project, which has already reached a population of about 194.000 people in the province, more than one 25% of the total".
Together with Vera, They have already signed agreements of accession to the RELAS Project locations Vícar, Huercal-Overa, Pulpí, Benahadux, Adra, Pannier, El Ejido, Berja, Rioja, La Mojonera and Cuevas de Almanzora.
The RELAS Project of the Andalusian Health Plan IV, which establishes a decentralization strategy, so that protection programs, promotion and public health prevention approach to the nearest field to citizens, namely, locally. This line of work is, also, in line with the social and municipalist spirit of the Statute of Autonomy of Andalusia, establishing a greater presence and competencies for municipalities, as well as the recent Andalusian public health laws and local autonomy.
The agreement signed today is aimed at addressing health problems of Vera, through the convergence of the sectors involved. For this, the integration of them will take place in a local network that answers to the needs detected. In a second phase of the project, the proposed strategies will be reflected in a comprehensive plan of action of municipal character.
The local network will consist of a team of professionals, called 'Group Motor', where the City Vera will be present, Territorial Delegation of Equality, Health and Social Policy, the Northern Area Health Almería, the primary care center of the city and citizens through their associations and local agents. They will work together to develop actions to improve the quality of life of the population.
This 'Motor Group' will first perform a diagnosis of the problems and risk factors for health more prevalent among the population of Vera. Habits and lifestyles, the health of citizens, as well as the social determinants that affect it, will be the main issues to be analyzed. This studio, called 'Local Health Profile', It will establish what actions to be executed to improve the health and quality of life of its population are, and the prioritization of these actions according to their importance and feasibility.
The citizens of the municipality (through their associations, groups and companies) They will have a major role in the development of the project and may participate in all phases of the same, both in detecting problems and providing possible measures for improvement, since they will be the main beneficiaries of the action plan.
