Natural stone exports grew 42% in the first two months of the year

The almerienses natural stone exports increased by 42 percent during the first two months of the year compared to the same period 2015, so that overseas sales made by the sector exceeded 57,3 million, namely, almost 17 million euros more in January and February of the previous year.

According to the data provided by the Andalusian Agency for Foreign Promotion Extenda a Europa Press, during 2015 the sector in Almería achieved sales abroad above the 321,9 million, namely, 85,5 million euros more than during 2014.

These figures practically reflect the total count for Andalusia, since sales of natural stone abroad in the province reflect the 98,3 percent of the region. So, in 2015 the autonomous community exported natural stone for a total value of 327,5 million, a 35,6 percent more than in 2014.

In the first two months of this year, The United States has been the country where most of the natural stone exports have been made, with shipments worth 22,2 million, followed by UK with 7,8 million, Australia with 2,5 million, Germany with 2,1 million, Italy with two million euros and Canada with 1,9 million. China, France, Argentina and Portugal are also among the ten countries with the most sales.

Andalusia leads the national ranking of natural stone exports at the state level ahead of the Valencian Community, that so far this year until February it has exported worth 29,1 million, Galicia with 15,4 million euros and La Rioja, with just over three million euros.
