The territorial delegate Equality, Health and Social Policy, Jose Maria Martin has visited the expansion works at the health center of Garrucha, along with the mayor of the municipality, María López. Board will provide 600.000 euros for the refurbishment of these facilities, which will double the number of queries. Along with this work, Health is promoting the completion of the work being carried out in the new Antas centers, Arboleas, Macael, La Mojonera and Olula del Rio.
José María Martín explained that “the expansion of the Garrucha health center, that the City Council is running, is in its final phase; The new part has already been completed and after the summer improvements will be made to the current facilities., which will allow the neighbors to enjoy a much larger center, modern and comfortable ”. The delegate has indicated that the works being carried out in this center will allow to go from 7 a 15 queries and incorporate new services, thanks to the incorporation of more than 600 new square meters ”.
Regarding the rest of the works in progress, José María Martín recalled that "the Board is promoting the construction of new primary care centers in the towns of Antas, Arboleas and Olula del Río, as well as the extensions of those currently existing in La Mojonera and Macael ”. In the set of these works, all of them executed through agreements with their respective municipalities, the Ministry of Health provides more than 4,6 million.
In La Mojonera will be added 427 square meters to the current facilities of the health center, which will allow to create four new queries, a specific area for minor surgery or a health education room, among other equipment. The expansion works are practically completed.
In Olula del Río, the Board contributes 1.121.000 euros for the construction of a new center of more than 3.000 square meter, with eight adult and two pediatric consultations, in addition to a minor surgery room, dentistry consultation, radiology and physiotherapy.
In the case of Antas, Health will invest more than 400.000 euros for the start-up of a new center, with an area of more than 500 square meter. Half of the funds allocated to this center have already been paid to the City Council.
The new Arboleas health center will involve an investment of more than 1,3 million euros by the Ministry of Health. It will have more than 1.300 surface squares, in which twelve adult consultations and two pediatrics will be distributed, next to a minor surgery area and a health education area.
Macael, the Board allocates 800.000 euros for the expansion of the current center, with the adequacy of 1.805 additional square meters, for the creation of new services and consultation spaces.
Committed to improving the primary care network
The Board has made a firm commitment in recent years to expanding and improving the primary care network, to improve your accessibility. From 2012 have been launched 11 new primary care centers in the province of Almería, with a total investment of 10,2 million: Los Gallardos, Abrucena, Canjáyar, Gádor, Vega de Acá (Almería), The Norias (El Ejido), Llano del Espino (Albox), Fines, The Viso (The Mojonera), San Isidro (Nijar) and Vera.
