Above 800 Secondary students involved in Cuevas del Almanzora in the 'On Wheels' program

Above 800 a dozen students from Secondary Schools (IES) the towns of Cuevas del Almanzora, Garrucha, Antas, Mojácar, Pulpí Vera participated today in the Multipurpose Ship Cuevas del Almanzora in a new edition of the 'On Wheels', an initiative of the Ministry of Health that aims to sensitize young people to traffic accidents. During the day it has developed a show called 'Road Show', including real evidence of professional emergency services and the victims themselves and their families.

The event has been attended by the Mayor of Cuevas del Almanzora Antonio Fernández Liria, which has welcomed participants, and the government delegate of the Board in Almería, Grace Fernandez, who recalled the young "the importance of a responsible attitude when driving, which involves not only the use of helmets and seat belts, but also avoid getting behind the wheel if they have consumed alcohol or any other substance ".

In today's session was attended seven public IES students: The Jaroso (Cuevas del Almanzora), The Palm (Vera), Al Yanub (Vera), Mar Serena (Pulpí), Mediterranean (Garrucha), Azahar (Antas) Rey Alabez (Mojácar). Also present were young inmates of the Juvenile Justice centers Oria and Purchena.

The 'On Wheels' is part of the Comprehensive Plan of Care for Accident of the Ministry of Health, establishing various measures to inform and raise awareness about traffic accidents and risk factors. The plan has the active participation of the Ministry of Education, local corporations and associations AESLEME (Spanish Association for the Study of Spinal Cord Injury) e IRSA (International Safety Academy).

Through 'on Wheels' is intended to both reduce the number of traffic accidents and their consequences among the population, and sensitize young people in education and promote among this population changes in attitude towards risk behaviors. The program includes two main activities: the campaign 'It Could Happen to You', consisting of information sessions in schools, and the show 'Road Show', that through a multimedia presentation combines real testimonies of policemen, firefighters and health professionals, dramatized with images and the intervention of three students of the school who attend the day.

 

Road Show

During the day today, the 804 pupils and students participating in the program have moved to the Multipurpose Ship Cuevas del Almanzora, para asistir al Road Show. In this show they have included members of the emergency services in charge of helping the accident victims, and people who have had one of these claims and their families.

Interventions are interspersed with videos in which images are displayed simulated accident. This is complemented with a staging that simulates the environment of a nightclub and which is intended for young people to feel more identified and disposed to receive the different messages in the session.

With the edition held today in Cuevas del Almanzor3, already they have been carried out 12 days on Wheels program in the province, in which they have participated more than 5.000 school in the capital, Adra, Vícar, Berja, Viator, Macael, Olula River, Huercal-Overa, Macael, Olula River, Níjar and El Ejido.
