The foundation Embark Andalucía, under the Ministry of Economy, Innovation, Science and Employment, in collaboration with the District Agricultural Office Huercal-Overa and Cajamar, has developed a conference aimed at businessmen and entrepreneurs of the agriculture sector under the title 'Emerging Crops: market-oriented innovation ', organized from the suggestion made to the Center for Entrepreneurial Development (CADE) huercalense municipality several entrepreneurs interested in starting agricultural activities on family plots given the scarcity of employment opportunities in other sectors.
The event has been attended by a group of 60 entrepreneurs, to which the director of the District Agricultural Office Huercal-Overa joined, Ramón Guerrero, and several technicians from the same, as well as representatives of the Municipality, the union of the Union of Small Farmers (UPA), of different irrigation communities of the town and the SATs Agrolevante and Asparagus Huercal-Overa.
The first part of the day consisted of holding two presentations by Juan José West, agronomist and coordinator of the Department of Pomology of the Experimental Station of Cajamar 'The Palmerillas', who spoke of four emerging market fruit crops, table grapes, almonds, persimmon and pomegranate; meanwhile, Benito Benito Cejudo, technical specialist farms and head of commercial department of the company Cartuja Asparagus SCA, he referred to the way you work and outreach of this Granada company.
Later, attendees have visited The Jumper facilities SAT Asparagus Huercal-Overa, accompanied by one of his associates, Ramón Ruiz, who explained the process of growing and marketing of a product that does more than a decade he was not among the traditional area, green asparagus. Then, have visited a pomegranate crops belonging to the SAT Agrolevante, being its president, Andrés Parra, who on this occasion has detailed how to work with this type of fruit.
The activity has been very dynamic and has had at all times with an interested and participative attitude of the attendees entrepreneurs, I lengthened substantially over their scheduled. CADE technicians have also offered to entrepreneurs all resources and services for all those Andalusian Enterprise initiatives or business improvements that are planned to undertake in the future.
