The Almería Provincial Council has launched a new edition, the number XXI, of the Carmen de Burgos workshops, an initiative that is carried out in collaboration with the municipalities where the activities are carried out and that has the main objective of promoting and encouraging the sociocultural participation of women in the municipalities of the province.
This year the workshops will be held in 37 Municipalities, following all security measures and when the health situation allows it, as explained by the provincial institution in a note.
The initiatives presented to this program promoted by the Diputación's Equality Area deal with the following thematic areas: painting, music, poetry, theater, narrative and photography.
Deputy Equality, Carmen Belén López, has indicated that “The workshops are aimed at groups of women who are interested in the proposed topics and all of them encourage creativity in rural areas of the province. In them communication and creativity of the group of women attending are encouraged, promoting greater participation in the most rural and unpopulated areas”.
In this sense, The deputy stated that the Carmen de Burgos workshops “they become an interesting element of social dynamization in our towns and help us to strengthen two of the main objectives of the Provincial Institution, and for those of us who work transversally from all areas: equal opportunities among people from Almeria wherever they live, and fix the population”.
Last, López recalled that through these workshops “the legacy of Carmen de Burgos is promoted, Almeria writer, international benchmark in the defense of women's equality”, and has valued that “With these activities, the painting of murals against violence against women is promoted and the community is sensitized towards an equality that adds to the provincial key”.
