The value of exports of olive oil from Almeria increased by 2,6% between January and April.

In the first quarter of this year the mills in the province have sold in foreign markets almost 550.000 kilos.

Between January and April last, the Almeria mills, in 84 trade, have been exported 544.000 kilos of olive oil, representing an increase of 25,3% compared with the first quarter of the year 2013. The turnover of these sales abroad amounted to 1,3 million, a 2,6% more than in the previous year, according to data compiled by Extenda from the last report Estacom.

Of these sales abroad, the 57,8% corresponds to virgen olive oil; the 30,6, a lampante; and 10,7 a oliva virgen, as highlighted by the territorial delegate of Agriculture, Fisheries and Environment, José Manuel Ortiz.

Almería ranks 19 of Spain by the value of exports of olive oil, with a national market share of 0,1%. Italy is the main destination for exports of oil Almería. In the first quarter acquired the Italian market product valued at 950.000 euros, equivalent to 72% of total. The second client is Switzerland, with the 9,2%; and third, Poland, an 4,8%. Other destinations are Mexico oil Almeria, Andorra, Germany, Dominican Republic, Japan, Sweden, U.S., South Korea and Panama.

A 5,5% More oil this year

The campaign 2013-2014, Almeria province dedicated to growing olives 19.908 hectares of olive groves, a 0,3% more than in the previous season.
